چکیده

Nitrogen-doped porous carbon (ZC) is prepared by modification with ammonia for increasing the specific surface area and surface polarity after carbonization of zeolite imidazole framework-8 (ZIF-8). The structure and properties of these ZCs were characterized by Transmission electron microscopy, X-ray diffraction, N₂ sorption, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy. Through static adsorption tests of these carbons, the sample obtained at 600 °C was selected as an excellent adsorbent, which exhibited an excellent acetone capacity of 417.2 mg g-1 (25 °C) with a very large surface area and high-level nitrogen doping (13.55%). The microporosity, surface area and N-containing groups of the materials, pyrrolic-N, pyridinic-N, and oxidized-N groups in particular, were found to be the determining factors for acetone adsorption by means of molecular simulation with density functional theory. These findings indicate that N-doped microporous carbon materials are potential promising adsorbents for acetone.

ZIF-Derived Nitrogen-Doped Porous Carbons for Xe Adsorption and Separation

Currently, finding high capacity adsorbents with large selectivity to capture Xe is still a great challenge. In this work, nitrogen-doped porous carbons were prepared by programmable temperature carbonization of zeolitic imidazolate framework-8 (ZIF-8) and ZIF-8/xylitol composite precursors and the resultant samples are marked as Carbon-Z and Carbon-ZX, respectively. Further adsorption measurem...

Flexibility and swing effect on the adsorption of energy-related gases on ZIF-8: combined experimental and simulation study.

ZIF-8, a prototypical zeolitic porous coordination polymer, prepared via the self-assembly of tetrahedral atoms (e.g. Zn and Co) and organic imidazolate linkers, presents large cavities which are interconnected by narrow windows that allow, in principle, molecular sieving. However, ZIF-8 shows flexibility due to the swing of the imidazolate linkers, which results in the adsorption of molecules ...

Oxygen-containing functional group-facilitated CO2 capture by carbide-derived carbons

A series of carbide-derived carbons (CDCs) with different surface oxygen contents were prepared from TiC powder by chlorination and followed by HNO3 oxidation. The CDCs were characterized systematically by a variety of means such as Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, ultimate analysis, energy dispersive spectroscopy, N2 adsorption, and transmission electr...

ZIF-8 derived graphene-based nitrogen-doped porous carbon sheets as highly efficient and durable oxygen reduction electrocatalysts.

Nitrogen-doped carbon (NC) materials have been proposed as next-generation oxygen reduction reaction (ORR) catalysts to significantly improve scalability and reduce costs, but these alternatives usually exhibit low activity and/or gradual deactivation during use. Here, we develop new 2D sandwich-like zeolitic imidazolate framework (ZIF) derived graphene-based nitrogen-doped porous carbon sheets...

Biofuel purification in zeolitic imidazolate frameworks: the significant role of functional groups.

A molecular simulation study is reported for biofuel purification in six zeolitic imidazolate frameworks (ZIF-8, -25, -71, -90, -96 and -97) with different functional groups. For pure ethanol and water, the predicted adsorption isotherms agree fairly well with experimental data. Hydrogen bonding has an important effect on the adsorption of ethanol and water. In hydrophilic ZIFs (ZIF-90, -96 and...
